Job Description

The Clinical Supervisor for Womens and Childrens Community Education provides clinical supervision and oversight to childbirth and parenting instructors, and coordinates the overall program to ensure customer satisfaction, cost effectiveness, and integration with the Women's and Children's Clinical Initiative.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides continuous performance monitoring for instructors; develops improvement plans and provides continuous feedback; utilizes direct observation, and participant evaluation results to develop performance improvement plans and follow-up.
  • Works with AAN, Women's & Children's Initiative, and Wellness team to ensure program schedule is consistent with customer needs; recruits program staff as needed.
  • Reviews and revises existing curriculum; develops/supports development of new programs; ensures program quality and consistency.
  • Ensures availability of instructional resources and supplies; works with the support staff to assist them in meeting the needs of perinatal instructors and class participants.
  • Compiles monthly reports and develops quarterly analysis; reports problems and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Develops program standards and curricula consistent with age(s) of learners and family/ethnic background; work with interpreters on Spanish language programs and services.
  • Responds to special customer (internal and external) problems; ensures patient needs are met; reports problems which interfere in effective program operations and outcomes and recommends solutions to the Supervisor promptly.
  • Represents the perinatal education program on process improvement teams, Wellness staff meetings, other interdepartmental or community activities; acts as liaison with Medical Staff.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Must have three years of full-time teaching experience; one year of education program management in a hospital setting.
  • Two years of labor and delivery nursing.

Required License/Certifications:

  • Childbirth educator certification required.
