Job Description

At Grand Rounds Health, the Clinical Quality Specialist will join the Clinical Quality and Safety team to further this mission by identifying high-yield clinical quality measures across our innovative and growing set of digital health services; working with our clinical, engineering, analytics, and data science teams to implement those measures; communicating those results to the clinicians and clinical managers; and working with clinicians and clinical managers on continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities


  • Performing targeted chart audits and clinical call reviews to gather quality data to support quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participating in the design, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement activities.
  • Supporting our quality audit team in preparation and presentation of cases selected for client audits.
  • Reviewing clinical calls and documentation and determining quality using standardized evaluation tools.
  • Reviewing documentation for accuracy, clinical judgment, and adherence to protocols and workflows.
  • Strictly following security and HIPAA regulations to protect our patients’ medical informationModeling our culture and values through humility and curiosity
  • Reviewing dashboards of quality metrics, identifying potential issues, and alerting appropriate managers.
  • Defining priorities, understanding competing interests, and exercising judgment in work within the team and in demands placed on supporting teams such as analytics, data science, and engineering. Assisting clinical managers with identifying quality risks and improvement opportunities in their service lines, defining appropriate measures, and following best practices in carrying out quality improvement initiatives.
  • Exercising nursing judgment and using clinical knowledge to evaluate the quality of nursing and medical assistant tasks and interactions in virtual care support operations (the “back desk” of our virtual clinics), triage, and care management.
  • Using clinical knowledge, experience, and problem solving skills to interpret clinical quality data, identify opportunities for improvement, and generate ideas.
  • Administering quality assurance data collection, including maintenance and updates to forms, assignment and tracking of activities done by external evaluators, and creation of reports and presentations summarizing quality assurance data.
  • Recommending and assisting with individual performance improvement programs when necessary.


Qualifications


  • Be able to write and communicate medical information at a level appropriate to different audiences, including other clinicians, patients, analysts/data scientists, and executives.
  • Be systems-oriented, inquisitive, analytical, and understand how the different parts of the healthcare system work together (or don’t) to produce an observed result.
  • This is are mote position, so reliable high-speed internet connection is required
  • Be a licensed provider in good standing with your state nursing board
  • Be pleasant, responsive, and willing to work with, teach, and learn from our teamBe proficient and comfortable with technology, including spreadsheet analysis, reporting and graphing tools, electronic health records, and Google apps. Prior Looker or similar experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a quality improvement role or a relevant certification is a plus
  • Be flexible and comfortable with working in a rapidly-changing environment.
  • Be able to identify and communicate factors that contribute to a good patient experience and outcome.
  • BSN required
  • At least three years of experience as a registered nurse, preferably in primary care, care management, or outpatient clinics
  • Be self-motivated and able to work independentlyExcel at communicating with patients and other clinicians, and enjoy doing so.
