The MO HealthNet Division (MHD) has an opening for a Clinical Pharmacist within the Pharmacy Unit located in Cole County.

Job Location: This position is located at the Howerton State Office Building; 615 Howerton Court, Jefferson City, MO.

Why you’ll love this position: This position is within a small unit that works closely together to administer the MO HealthNet Pharmacy Program. The work can be challenging but the rewards are significant as we work together to assist Missouri’s most vulnerable populations while also striving to provide a fiscally sustainable program for the State of Missouri.

What you’ll do: Reporting to the MO HealthNet Director of Pharmacy, the clinical pharmacist will work with other pharmacists to maintain the pharmacy program and ensure appropriate utilization of medication. This person will review literature, manage clinical & preferred drug list edits, and analyze claims data. Responsibilities of the position would include:

  • Maintain and enhance the pharmacy system programs to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Interpret State Statutes, regulations and MHD Policy and Procedure.
  • Assist in creating new policies and/or enhancing current policies.
  • Perform other related work, as assigned.
  • Create clinical, fiscal, and preferred drug list policies.
  • Educate providers on MO HealthNet policies and procedures.
  • Review pharmacy claims to report on utilization trends.

Minimum Qualifications
Missouri licensed pharmacist and 1-3 years of relevant experience. (Substitutions may be allowed.)

Preferred Qualifications
This position requires significant knowledge and understanding of the pharmacy program, claims processing system and clinical adjudication tools, as well as considerable knowledge and a working understanding of pharmacy operations and pharmaceutical products. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to convey complicated information in a straightforward manner is preferred. The successful candidate will prioritize tasks and make decisions when consequences are clear. Experience in the following areas is also preferred:

  • Experience presenting complex material to P&T Committees
  • Experience in working with pharmacy claims processing systems
  • Experience creating and implementing utilization management criteria for claim processing
  • Experience in analyzing and evaluating complex pharmacy claims
