Clinical Laboratory Assistant Jobs

The pathology laboratory is seeking a full-time Clinical Lab Assistant to support technical laboratory personnel in day-to-day operations of the dermatopathology, histology and immunohistochemistry laboratories in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

The incumbent will:

• Possesses effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Under direct supervision of pathology administrators, order laboratory consumables and track billing and reconciliations of supplies of the laboratory.
• Prepare simple and complex reagents or media under direct supervision.
• Receive, accession and triage patient specimens, blocks and slides.
• Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Clear understanding of the standards required to work in a Histology laboratory under CAP and KSOM guidelines
• Must be highly organized, and detail-oriented
• Identify and separate specimens to be referred to outside laboratories or analyzed by other USC laboratories.
• Maintain and organizes laboratory supplies. Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
• Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with clients and other personnel
• Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
• Proficiency with typical software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Hourly range:

The hourly rate range for this position is $18.41 - $24.93. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience

Minimum Education: Related graduate study Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 0 - 6 months Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience as a laboratory assistant in a clinical lab.
