The Opportunity
Our Nursing Faculty serves in varied academic administrative capacities to help ensure SNHU's online programs and courses are high quality and that instructors meet the overall institutional promise to students. These responsibilities include mentoring adjunct faculty members, advising students, participating in program and course development, including serving as subject-matter experts, developing training and support materials for Faculty development, assisting in the admissions process and orientation of new students, and managing and overseeing course sections.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implement instructional and design strategies that engage students in their learning.
  • Positively impact student satisfaction and success rates by participating in curriculum review and revisions.
  • Provide meaningful and timely feedback to students, team leads, and adjunct instructors.
  • Serve as consultant in hiring adjunct instructors and in determination of ongoing assignments.
  • Assist in communication and collaboration between academic administration and other stakeholders.
  • Attend on site at Immersions no more than 3 times a year. Our Immersions are held in New Hampshire.
  • Serve on other academic committees, such as the Academic Unit Curriculum Committee, Academic Policy Committee, or C3.
  • Teach in up to ten course sections a year across the program curriculum.
  • Maintain an effective and efficient working relationship with all participants of the course and program design process.
  • Serve as a faculty advisor.
  • Adhere to all standard instruction principles when serving as a course instructor.
  • Other duties, responsibilities or activities may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Participate in curriculum oversight. For example, evaluating programs, evaluating courses, serving as course subject matter expert or program coordinator.
  • Evaluate adjunct faculty and team leads and manage performance on a weekly and term basis.
  • Serve as an effective mentor and coach to adjunct instructors and/or subject matter experts.
  • Oversee course sections, instructors, and team leads.
  • Contribute to high academic quality and standards as consultants and participants in strategic reviews and administrative action.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctorate required; can be DNP, PhD, or EdD
  • Unencumbered licensure to practice as a registered nurse AND as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Additional state license(s) may be required.
  • MSN required
  • Active National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Experience/work in the areas of andragogy, and/or academic administration or as a nurse educator.
  • 3+ experience teaching college level nursing courses, including one year teaching graduate level nursing courses.
  • Ability to use many and varied technical platforms for report production and performance monitoring.
  • Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable: Yes No
