Position Summary
This position will assist the exercise physiologists in carrying out the exercise prescription and plan of care and monitoring the patient's response to exercise.
Responsibilities
  • Delivers direct quality patient care utilizing clinical skill and knowledge.
  • Assist exercise physiologist, plan, implement and supervise to exercise prescription and progression
for patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease.
  • Monitors and communicates changes in patient's condition or response to exercise therapy and
documents in medical record.
  • Implements, monitors and documents exercise prescription and progression of exercise prescription
under the supervision of an Exercise Physiologist with an Exercise Specialist certification.
  • Assesses patients for appropriateness for exercise, potential problems or limitations that impact
exercise.
  • Utilizes clinical judgment to provide a range of options for assisting cardiovascular and pulmonary
outpatients to embrace safe exercise as a therapy for risk factor management.
  • Uses a multidisciplinary approach and includes patient and family in implementing, encouraging,
motivation and monitoring exercise therapies.
  • Assists in the coordination for orientation of patients to the outpatient setting, equipment, safety standards
and educates the patients regarding their responsibility in the process.
  • Assures appropriate safe setting for the conduct of exercise therapy sessions.
  • Leads exercise therapy session to include appropriate components of warm up, conditioning phase
  • Conducts outpatient cardiovascular and pulmonary therapy sessions.

  • Monitors patients for signs of exercise intolerance using ECG, symptom history, vital signs, pulse
oximetry, level of dyspnea and rating of perceived exertion to adjust patient's prescription as needed
under the supervision of an exercise physiologist with an exercise specialist certification.
  • Assumes responsibility of continued professional growth and development.
  • Develops leadership role.
  • Assists in facilitating needed changes in policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Reports changing patient status and program staffing needs to appropriate personnel.
Other Information
This position is PRN / as needed - no benefits
Typically this position is needed MWF from 9-4 but there are occasional requests for T/Th
