POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement of personal and commercial claims of low complexity. Must commit to eight (8) week paid training program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL, BASIC AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION. THESE FUNCTIONS ARE NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST OF ALL RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, AND SKILLS REQUIRED.

  • Models ethical behavior and executes job responsibilities in accordance with Citizens core values, ethics and information protection policies.
  • Contributes to the business productions goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates some proficiency in conducting claims investigations and assessing damages and/or claim evaluations.
  • Researches, analyzes, and interprets basic policy contracts and state statutes as it applies to submitted claims.
  • Participates in workload surges and/or catastrophe response as needed, to include mandated overtime during specified catastrophic events. May assist other Business Units as needed.
  • Documents all relevant information in the electronic claims management system.
  • Evaluates and applies Citizens Best Claims Practices and Estimating Guidelines and industry standards in negotiations and settlements.
Qualifications


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and department operational guidelines in daily functions.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Possesses customer service skills and experience.

. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate/Technical Degree OR 2 years relevant experience, OR a combination of both college and experience equivalent to 2 years.
  • High School Diploma or the Equivalent.

AND

  • Six (6) months claims adjusting or customer service experience or 2 years related/transferrable experience.
  • Must possess a valid, active and appropriate Florida adjuster license within 90 days of employment and maintain it as a condition of continued employment. Appointment required.
  • Within 90 days of employment, must successfully complete all requirements of Citizens Fundamental Claims School which includes obtaining an overall passing score.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Property insurance related experience.
  • Active Florida Adjuster license (620 or 644).
  • Bachelor’s degree, or currently pursuing in field with skills transferrable to insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires the ability to sit, hear, converse over the telephone and key frequently on a computer for long periods of time (4 or more hours per day). Position requires the ability to be mobile, operate a motor vehicle, climb roofs, and inspect homes including attics & crawl spaces. This position may require occasional overnight travel; and may be required to work for extended periods of time to include after standard business hours in addition to weekends in addition to weekends and holidays during catastrophe response, or as needed.
