IMEG Corp. is growing, and we’d love to have you join our team! We are currently seeking a Civil Engineering Graduate- Designer 1 in our
Naperville, IL
office.
A Civil Design Engineer is an Entry level position that assists Senior Project Engineers or Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis in the preparation of reports, permit applications and construction plan preparation. The Civil Design Engineer may emphasize in traffic, municipal, transportation or other specialized area.
Some key duties and responsibilities include:
  • Traffic impact analysis.
  • Channel and culvert hydraulics.
  • An understanding of materials and methods.
  • Geometric pavement and site circulation design.
  • Traffic signal design.
  • Ability to consistently produce high quality construction documents.
  • Perform basic calculations based on assignment i.e. hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, or calculations to balance site earthwork.
  • Civil Designer III will direct and train Civil Design Technicians to assist them in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the projects contractual scope.
  • Flexible pavement design and rigid pavement design.
  • Pipe sizing and loading calculations.
  • Roadway Plan/Profile design drawings
  • Understand AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting procedures.
  • Additional functions include those listed in Civil Design Technicians’ responsibility.
  • Site grading and earthwork computations.
  • The Civil Designer III I must be able to interpret state and local design criteria and apply it to the specific project needs.
  • Regularly has work assignments checked by peer or supervisor.
  • Highway capacity software.
Key skills and abilities needed for the position are:
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD Civil 3Dsoftware.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings;
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction.
Education and experience requirements are:
  • Must have passed the fundamental portion of professional engineering licensing exam or be actively pursuing a passing score.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Prior direct experience is preferred but no prior direct experience is required for an entry level position. However, a working knowledge of AutoCAD and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible is preferred.
