Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
  • Must be physically able to interact with children in a manner that meets their needs.
  • Associate’s degree in early childhood or closely related field or current preschool Child Development Associate (CDA) with 3 years full time (or equivalent) paid or voluntary experience in an early childhood group setting working with ages between three months to four years old.
  • A current CDA certificate or Associate degree transcript must be attached.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in university laboratory setting for young children.
  • Experience working in an accredited program.
  • Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education or a closely related field with 12+ credit hours in early education and/or development with 2 year full time (or equivalent) paid or voluntary experience in an early childhood group setting working with ages between three months to four years old. If the degree is in a related field, a transcript showing early childhood development coursework is required.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.

Responsible for providing quality childcare by planning, developing and implementing a developmental program for children.

Job Duties
Plan and implement a developmental program for children using a DAP curriculum. Evaluate and maintain records regarding each child’s development. Utilize appropriate direct and indirect guidance strategies to guide behavior. Meets the individual emotional, physical, social, safety, and health needs of children in care through proactive planning, active engagements and by closely supervising their routines. Maintain the classroom and playground environments by changing play areas bi-monthly, cleaning toys and equipment based on class and licensing schedule, following Child Development Center guidelines for mitigating health risks, and by checking for hazards and child health concerns daily. Model and mentor university lab students on developmentally appropriate classroom practices. Maintain verbal and written communication with parents. Assist parents and other teachers in meeting the children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills. Maintain a respectful, supportive, and professional demeanor. Administer first aid and compassionate care to children as needed. Complete required training and education hours. Maintain required credentials.

Additional Information to Applicants
Applicants will be required to bring a child appropriate classroom 10-15 minute activity and implement it in a classroom. They will also be expected to engage children in 5-10 minute physical activity. CDC staff are given priority ranking on the enrollment waitlist and after 6 months of employment, staff receive a 20% discount on childcare tuition.
