Job Description
Overview


Under the guidance of the Facility President, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the overall operations of the facility and all operating divisions. The COO ensures organizational integrity, the provision of high-quality, efficient operations, financial results and the development and implementation of a strategic plan that aligns with the mission and vision of Novant Health.


The COO is responsible for the integration of hospital operations, community medicine, institutes and innovation centers to successfully deploy and implement strategic initiatives in a meaningful and effective way to achieve optimal outcomes for the facility and the organization as a whole. You must balance the authority of the role with direct leadership and oversight of leaders and front-line team members within the facility to the influential oversight of other corporate and indirect reporting relationships.


Qualifications


  • Additional Skills/Requirements required: Thorough knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of principles of fiscal and human resource management. Considerable skill in data analysis, organization, and presentation. Extensive ability to work and manage daily operations using a high involvement, multidisciplinary team concept. Ability and willingness to work in an evolving healthcare delivery system. Extensive oral and written communication skills, negotiation skills. Strong leadership skills such as creativity, cooperation, independent judgement, ability to delegate, adaptability, perseverance, high energy level, and a strong work ethic. The ability work with physicians, staff, and professionals in multiple settings, locations and to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Experience: 7+ years progressive executive COO experience in a healthcare setting for a 500+ bed acute care facility or CEO experience over multiple rural acute care facilities.
  • Education: Master's degree, required.
  • Additional Skills/Requirement preferred: Experience with working in a large healthcare system and managing matrixed functions, preferred.
