Job description:

Position Overview:

The Chief of Staff will play a pivotal role in this emerging nonprofit reporting directly to the CEO. This leadership position involves coordinating and overseeing crucial areas of work that are essential to the organization's success. The Chief of Staff will drive efficiency, manage projects, support the CEO's activities, and cultivate relationships to advance the mission of promoting educational equity and elevating BIPOC parent leadership. The ideal candidate will be passionate about parent advocacy and possess insight on the current educational and political landscape in Rhode Island.

Responsibilities:

The Chief of staff will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for leading and coordinating several areas of work that are critical to the success of Stop The Wait RI, including but not limited to the following:

Utilize prior experience in nonprofit startup settings to navigate, advise, and lead the organization through its growth and scaling phase.

●Design and lead ambitious and effective electoral, educational, and issue advocacy campaigns focused on promoting and achieving educational equity and the elevation of parent leadership.

●Support the CEO by managing day-to-day tasks and the flow of information.

●Support management and performance across the organization and Stop the Wait staff in implementing organizational priorities and identifying growth areas.

●Manage, supervise and, where appropriate, grow the CEO’s office.

●Support the CEO’s management of the Leadership team, including coordination with the Board of Directors and major philanthropic partners.

●Lead, develop, and assign special projects as needed.

●Manage CEO’s event calendar providing necessary logistical support.

●Attend and document major takeaways and action items from partner meetings and, where needed, develop and update project plans to ensure our approach is responsive and relevant.

Create presentation outlines, talking points, and agendas for an internal and external coalition meeting

●Develop and implement processes, systems, and tools to optimize resources and ensure efficient operations.

This is not a traditional 9-5 and will require some work on weekends and nights during peak times.


QualificationsRequired Skills and Experience:

●Three or more years of experience in management or executive roles.

●Proven experience in hiring, and supervising multiple employees.

Impeccable verbal, written, research, communication, and deck creation skills, and experience.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, concise terms (verbally and written).

Must be available to attend in-person meetings and events in RI, as needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

● Master's degree in policy, education administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

●Consulting and fundraising experience, with a focus on operations management.

●Track record of success in project coordination and strategic planning.

●Problem-solving mindset with a creative approach to solutions.

●Strong project-reporting skills with a focus on cross-departmental communication and collaboration

Bilingual (fluent in Spanish preferred).

Salary and Benefits:

The salary is $85,000 - $95,000 commensurate with experience.
