Role Summary:

As a senior member of the executive team, the Chief Financial Officer will lead Electrify America to create value for EV drivers, employees, and shareholders. The selected candidate is responsible for leading all financial activities of the company and providing strategic direction for responsible fiscal management and growth success. This role will be accountable for the administrative, financial, procurement, and risk management operations of the company. In pursuit of this goal, the selected candidate will identify and track relevant KPIs as well as the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. This role will report to the company CEO, partner with other Senior officers within the company, and provide routine updates to the Board of Directors on financial matters.

Role Responsibilities:

Main responsibility

Lead the company as a key member of the executive leadership team, collaborating on company strategy and operations, maintaining strong professional relationships with the members of the board, internal, and external stakeholders.

DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly responsible for Finance, Controlling, Purchasing, and Accounting teams including financial reporting, preparation of all financial statements, working capital and cash management, financial planning and budgeting process, financial performance improvement, audit management, and the development and implementation of related policies and procedures.

Oversee Tax and Treasury functions, either directly or indirectly through parent company management.

Provide Executive Leadership direction to long-term financial plans. These plans drive budget, station utilization & profit planning for Electrify America business, both current and long term in the US and Canada.

Ensure compliance with all internal and external financial regulations, policies and procedures, including GAAP/IFRS, and SEC (if applicable). Responsible to ensure policies and governance processes are aligned with VWGoA and VWAG standards.

Lead development and deployment of automated financial processes.

Responsible for the financial coordination, evaluation, analysis, control, and planning support of all the business units within Electrify America.

RISK MANAGEMENT

Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of headcount and personnel cost controls, accounting controls, purchasing controls, disbursement controls, and other internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure strong fiscal management.

Responsible for the design, development, and implementation of an adequate financial system aligned VWAG Group standards and benchmarked “best practices”, which allows for proper financial reporting and control of financial commitments.

INVESTMENTS; MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

Serve as key member of the internal deal team for any needed capital raises, in close partnership with the legal and strategy teams as well as VWAG M&A and any external advisors.

Manage relationship with investors and investment institutions.

CONSENT DECREE

Oversee financial compliance with the applicable Settlement Agreement obligations and investment commitments, maintaining the Creditable Cost Guidance to ensure spending meets regulatory requirements, and overseeing the independent compliance audit.

Team Development

Manage and lead a best-in-class Finance, Accounting, Controlling and Purchasing team, dedicated to driving overall growth for the company.

Provide day-to-day, ongoing leadership, including feedback, team alignment, and development.

Champion direct reports’ career growth and identify development opportunities to help them grow.

Increase teams’ skills and knowledge, enabling them to expand connections across the industry.

Years of Relevant Experience:

  • A minimum of 15 years of financial management experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of people management experience

Education (Required):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field

Education (Desired):

  • CPA or CFA
  • Master’s Degree in business (MBA), finance, accounting, or economics

Specialized Skills (Required):

  • Proven experience leading and negotiating multi-million dollar capital raises, from deal strategy to closing; investor relations
  • Experience establishing, managing, and measuring key financial metrics
  • Serving as a member of an executive leadership team, prioritizing and collaborating on top corporate initiatives
  • Proven experience in administering financial and compliance audits conducted by independent auditors
  • Experience leading financial planning and analysis teams, including annual financial planning processes
  • Experience building, developing, and retaining a team of talented managers
  • Experience as a CFO of a product and SaaS focused organization that has been through rapid and large-scale growth
  • Experience with investor communication, possessing the ability to establish trust and build rapport with existing and potential investors
  • Experience leading accounting teams as well as working capital management
  • Experience overseeing and managing $100 million+ annual operating budgets
  • Significant experience in business case evaluation as well as implementing successful financial performance improvement plans
  • Informing, developing, and presenting key decision points to a board of directors

Specialized Skills (Desired):

  • International company or multi-national company experience
  • Experience engaging with regulators
  • Familiarity with corporate tax functions and the Internal Revenue Code
  • Proven experience leading a successful IPO
  • Ability to initiate and drive growth and have the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • Prior experience in the automotive, utility, and/or energy industry
  • Experience in supply chain, purchasing or procurement
  • Experience with and working understanding of SEC reporting, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Strong understanding of automotive segments, especially electrification & mobility industry trends

Work Flexibility:

  • Travel up to 20% of the time, including international
  • Prolonged periods of desk-based and computer work
