Job Description

District Partners has been retained by a leading trade association to identify its next CFO.


This organization has a long standing history of service to its membership. Now, under new leadership, the organization will be growing organically and internationally. The new leadership seeks to hire a finance leader to elevate its finance function in all respects. The successful candidate will possess strong financial management and leadership experience, the knack for driving growth stories and turnarounds, and the business acumen required to help the organization achieve its growth goals.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the association
  • Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of company
  • Oversee HR operations by coordinating with external service providers (ex: payroll, benefits, recruitment) and internal staff responsible for other aspects of HR
  • Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action
  • Serve as a direct report to the Executive Director of the Association
  • Work with senior managers to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract/grant compliance and reporting
  • Understand and manage grants and their reporting requirements
  • Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
  • Develop and implement exemplary practices, tools and software to ensure a well-controlled association that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows
  • Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)
  • Understands the nature and business of the corrections profession Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility (either directly or via staff oversight) for all financial management, payroll, investments, insurance, budgeting, financial reporting, and help drive the associations financial strategy and hiring needs
  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives


Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) • Experience with a membership organization • Experience communicating with and presenting to oversight Boards • Strong information technology skills in the finance and accountant department
  • Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
  • Working knowledge of how to raise capital outside traditional lines of credit
  • Excellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
  • Preferrable five or more years of experience in executive leadership roles
  • CPA
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
