Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the President with frequent interaction with the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Board of Trustees, the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) is a key member of the President’s Leadership Cabinet. The CFO will be an energetic and accomplished financial leader with a passion for the mission and core values of the University of Florida. The CFO will work across the $8 billion enterprise to optimize the University’s decision-making capabilities and inspire the highest standards of financial performance.

The CFO serves as an institutional catalyst, stimulating sound financial management practices across the organization that support both change and the achievement of the strategic and financial objectives of the University. The CFO also serves as a role model for how to engage a variety of individuals with different perspectives to develop creative solutions to resources constraints.

More specifically, key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the integration of all financial functions, including reporting, cash management, investments, collections, borrowing, cash flows, treasury, and bonding.
  • Provide financial oversight and financial planning for University’s 16 direct support organizations (DSOs).
  • Provide leadership to financial reporting and analysis and ensure that all fiscal-related policies and procedures are in compliance with all regulatory requirements and optimize the University’s benefits.
  • Develop, evaluate, and communicate short- and long-term fiscal strategies that align with established University goals; such strategies will incorporate the use of budget and data analyses, financial planning, resource assessment, financial modeling, and forecasts.
  • Establish matrix reporting relationships with all CFO-related positions within the existing DSOs and affiliates.
  • Serve as a member of the Board of Directors at UF Health.
  • Perform fiscal analyses for legislative and campus-wide initiatives.
  • Advise the President and Senior Vice Presidents on the allocation and administration of the University budget, while proactively positioning the University to best navigate a dynamic financial landscape.
  • Represent the University’s financial plans to all constituents.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions.
  • Analyze the University’s revenue streams, financial ratios, and proposals for capital projects and develop alternative strategies, as appropriate.

Expected Salary:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will consist of a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package and relocation assistance, if necessary.



Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and eight years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and ten years of appropriate experience.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to operate effectively within a complex multi-faceted academic environment facility with detail and ability to synthesize that detail within an overall strategic framework
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in the development of comprehensive, integrated financial budgeting and reporting systems
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills and experience in board presentations
  • Demonstrated experience in and knowledge of financial management practices in higher education of large governmental or business entities
  • A creative and entrepreneurial approach
  • Ten years of significant fiscal management responsibility with direct responsibility in areas of fiscal analysis, forecasting, borrowing, accounting, and financial reporting
  • Energy and enthusiasm for new ideas
  • Ability to collaborate with a broad range of people across many disciplines
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards and commitment to transparency
  • Skilled at facilitating open and constructive dialogue
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
  • Ability to effect change through influence and collaboration
