Job Description

HealthTech, an award-winning healthcare consulting and strategic hospital services firm, is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to work with this amazing hospital in Southwest New Mexico.


Job Summary

The new President & CEO is responsible for day-to-day operations of the hospital and the long-term vision and strategy. The CEO reports to HealthTech and the hospital Board of Trustees and is an employee of HealthTech.


Job Functions

Strategic Leadership

The new CEO will work with the hospital Board of Trustees, senior leadership team, medical staff leadership, HealthTech leadership and all hospital employees to develop a vision and operational plan for the hospital.

Financial Responsibility

The CEO will work closely with the CFO to provide financial leadership and support the financial management of all entities of the hospital.


People Management

By working closely with the Director of Human Resources, the CEO will be a visible leader who will motivate and challenge hospital employees, will delegate appropriately, will hold all employees accountable, will communicate effectively and will reward contributions. The CEO will schedule, lead, or facilitate meetings, ensure that the hospital applies clear and consistent performance standards and handles performance problems decisively. The CEO will promote a work environment that reflects a positive atmosphere, high employee satisfaction and competence.


Board Relations

With assistance from the hospital’s senior leadership team, the CEO will be responsive to the Board of Trustees which is the focal point of hospital policymaking. The CEO must develop a positive and productive working relationship with the board by providing outstanding leadership, being responsive to Board inquiries and communicating in an effective manner.


Physician Relations

The new CEO must develop positive working relationships with all members of the medical staff including Medical Executive Committee, independent physicians, employed physicians and contracted physicians. This will be a critical area of focus. The CEO will routinely meet with physicians individually and at appropriate committee meetings and must develop an understanding of their needs and blend those with the strategic direction of the hospital.


Communication

The CEO must establish and communicate clear expectations, provide clear and consistent communication, and demonstrate effective listening skills with all members of the hospital community.


Customer Service

The CEO must understand and value the impact of outstanding customer service and the positive impact that has been achieved at the hospital


Corporate Responsibilities

The new CEO needs to be knowledgeable concerning the specific details of the various responsibilities set forth in the management agreement between HealthTech and the hospital.


Experience

  • Strong demonstrated Critical Access Hospital CEO experience is required.
  • Candidates must have a strong and successful track record of accomplishing the duties and responsibilities listed above.
  • Candidates must also have a track record of community leadership.


Qualification

  • Candidates must have at least 5 to 7 years of hospital CEO experience in a successful and comparable organization.
  • ACHE Membership is required, and attainment of ACHE Fellowship is preferred.
