Description

Under limited supervision plans, organizes, manages and evaluates designated engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.
  • Supervises, enhances and monitors designated engineering practices for the site
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Reports environmental compliance issues and makes recommendations to appropriate site management for correction
  • Provides guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
  • Represents the site on company sponsored steering teams, such as Freeport-McMoRan Environmental Steering Team
  • Supervises or reviews, investigates and develops appropriate recommendations regarding planned engineering projects
  • Contributes to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated engineering areas
  • Supervises or may serve as Project Manager or technical expert, on large/complex site construction, expansion or modification engineering projects
  • Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees
  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline and five (5) years of experience in Engineering or related scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline and seven (7) years of experience in Engineering or related scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience, OR
  • Skilled in managing large/complex engineering projects
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

  • Skilled in project economic assessment
  • Skilled in creating team role clarity and chartering engineering projects
  • Skilled in employee development and line of progression management
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
  • Experience in strategic goal alignment
  • Highly value healthy team dynamics
  • Skilled in prioritizing team workload
  • Strong Mechanical Engineering skillset balanced with experience in other disciplines
  • Ability to negotiate priorities among competing business segments

Criteria/Conditions

  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $108,000-$152,000 annually. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional incentive compensation considerations based on company and individual performance. Additionally, this position is currently eligible for annual long-term incentive consideration. Long-term incentives are contingent upon authorized approval under the terms and conditions of the Company's plan and award agreements. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
