Chief Construction Inspector Jobs

Core Responsibilities

• Monitors contractor activities to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, contract documents, specifications, HASP's, and other related project documents. May include supervising cable installation for high pressure, low pressure, and solid dielectric. Including high-pressure pipe preparation, repairs, and maintenance work.
• Complies with the Company's Equal Employment policies and procedures.
• Review and approve all construction related documentation (eg. time sheets, material request forms, unit sheets, etc.).
• Acts as the company liaison with internal and external customers (eg. city officials, regulators, DOT, and internal departments) on all matters associated with assigned projects.
• Prepares cost estimates for contract changes not requiring Bid Check estimating.
• Reports all contractor incidents promptly through Infraction Reports and Action Lines, following through as required.
• Obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card from TSA to work on waterfront site when required.
• Monitors contractor activities to ensure a safe and environmentally secure workplace for company employees, contractors, and the public.
• Obtains and holds work permits from user organizations ensuring that systems are properly held off and de-energized prior to start of work as required.
• Verify contractor has coordinated utility markouts per NYC 753.
• Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
• Maintains all project files including daily logs of contractor activities. updated contract drawings, schedules, sign-in sheets, etc.
• Records daily CFOR inspection results and documents contractor incidents in the Contractor Oversight System as required.
• Coordinates all field changes with engineering and Transmission Operations Project Managers to ensure that modifications are properly approved and documented.
• Request emergency NYC DOT permit prior to start of construction work.
• Assists in conducting field visits to review site conditions, issues relative to the station, and project details.

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering with at least 2 year of relevant experience or

Relevant Work Experience

• Certified to be scaffold competent. Preferred
• Possess a fundamental background in construction management. Required
• Possess Incident Commander training. Preferred
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of all contract administration procedures. Required
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with contractors and company employees. Required
• Knowledge in electrical, mechanical, civil, and architectural construction. Required
• Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). Required
• Be knowledgeable in operating rules, environmental procedures, and safety practices. Required
• Demonstrate knowledge of the facilities, remediation, electric, gas, and/or steam systems. Required

Licenses & Certifications

• Other: Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) 1 Year Required
• Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

• Must work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, or equipment
• Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
• Must work with and in the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
• Must respond to system emergencies
• Must work at field locations in all weather conditions
• Must climb ladders and stairs

Other Physical Demands

• Must be able to work off hour schedules (e.g. weekends, holidays, midnights, etc.).
• Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
