RESPONSIBILITIES
  • High-school education, equivalent education, or approved applicable work experience
  • Cross train on other Chemical Operator duties in other related plants as needed.
  • Any other assigned tasks from Supervision, Leadership, or Management
  • A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in a chemical plant preferred.
  • Complete production and environmental records as required.
  • Respond to fires or spills on the company’s property.
    • Get trained on additional portions of the process
    • Get trained on permit writing including hot work, confined space entry, high hazard lifts, and other hazardous work permits
    • Any other assigned tasks from Supervision, Leadership, or Management

    REQUIREMENTS
  • Operate various pieces of equipment used in the “utilities” area and the “wet” area processing of a product.
  • Perform specific plant functions as described in the plant specific “task list”.
  • Monitor equipment and report any leaks, malfunctions, or unusual noises, or other problems.
  • Must be available to work rotating shifts, weekends, nights, holidays, and mandatory overtime coverage as scheduled.
  • Perform prescribed plant checks during the shift to insure proper operation.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time and determine priorities in order to meet daily plant requirements.
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math skills.
  • Perform prescribed Q. C. sampling of raw materials, in process materials and/or finished product.
  • Get trained on additional portions of the process
  • Must be able to operate forklift truck and be capable of passing certification testing.
  • Participate in plant required compliance, safety and continuous improvement programs, including but not limited to e-university, annual training in fire fighting, and hazardous waste operations and emergency response (hazwoper)
  • Monitor assigned “wet” or “utilities” area continuously for proper equipment operation and product quality.
  • Get trained on permit writing including hot work, confined space entry, high hazard lifts, and other hazardous work permits
  • Prepare notes of operation parameters and adjustments for continuous operation by the next shift.
  • Assist other plant personnel in troubleshooting and housekeeping.
  • Ability to understand and carry out routine verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
  • Unload raw materials from various bulk containers for use in the process as instructed by shift supervisor.
  • Maintain work area in clean and orderly manner; observe all company safety regulations and work rules.
