Job Summary: The Certified Surgical Technician I-IV is a member of the surgical team working with physicians, nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Assists with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, and accidental contamination, and protects the patient from harm.
Assists staff surgeons, residents, medical students, nursing students, and surgical technology students with all surgical procedures and instructs on maintaining a sterile field.
Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to the established PAR level.
Participates in the quality improvement process.
Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures.
Participates in the quality improvement process.
Maintains all AORN and JCAHO standards at all times.
Picks and assembles all cases for the same day and the next day. Ensures that all cases have the necessary equipment, implants, and special orders.
Communicates to Team Leader regarding delays and add-on cases completed.

Qualifications:
- 4701 CST I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
- None
- 4702 CST II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
- 4704 CST IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Technologist in Surgery – Certified (TS-C), or LVN with specialized training.
- 4703 CST III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
- Current JPS-recognized CPR certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
