Position Summary

The Guidance Counselor will work within a guidance program for students in middle and/or high school with a high degree of flexibility in serving the varied and diverse needs of the individual students. The Guidance Counselor will have a strong sense of compassion and commitment to helping people. The Guidance Counselor will be able to work in a team-driven environment with social services personnel, educators, and parents. The Guidance Counselor shall possess a high degree of sensitivity, warmth and empathy while maintaining consistency with program expectations to encourage academic, social and personal growth.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the multi-treatment team and other supportive staff
• Work within a middle and/or high school guidance program that provides students with a safe and non-judgmental way to voice their concerns or worries
• Assist school administrators and educators with planning and carrying out school-related programs and events
• Provide counseling utilizing an individual and/or group format
• Analyze student performance in the classroom to provide guidance and identify potential problems
• Support the school IEP team and contribute to action items related to special education requirements
• Learn students' names, career objectives and other details so to better serve them
• Facilitate crisis intervention and prevention programs
• Communicate with teachers, parents, and administrators on an ongoing basis about behavioral and academic problems
• Help students develop academic plans in accordance with their skills, talents and strengths

Kent Place School seeks a Middle School Assistant Tennis Coach. Prior coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level preferred; experience at the high school level required. Please submit a cover letter and resume to apply.

Hours: 2.30 - 3.30 pm - Mon, Tues, Wed, Friday (games could finish later and may occur on Thursdays)
Season: Fall (Sept 6th - Nov 12th)
Qualifications And Responsibilities

• Model sports-like behavior.
• Attend mandatory preseason parent meetings and training sessions with the Athletic Department.
• Participate in special activities, awards nights, admission panels, open houses, coaching clinics, and pep assemblies.
• Promote good public relations through professional standards of conduct and presentation and professional courtesy.
• Strong interpersonal and administrative skills.
• Exceptional leadership skills.
• Adhere to best practices of diversity and inclusion so that interactions with students, colleagues, and other constituencies highlight awareness, competence, and sensitivity.
• Ability to motivate players to reach their potential.
• Understand the fundamentals of the game of tennis, including knowledge of rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
• Ability to work effectively with others.
• Complete all coaching accreditation modules and KPS training.
• Maintain, along with coaches, the proper supervision of student-athletes at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation.
