9:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the on-site supervision of a licensed physical therapist, carries out the treatment program, established by the physical therapist based on their assessment. Completes appropriate paperwork for counter-signature by the therapist when necessary.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inpatient Acute Rehab Medicine, Outpatient Rehab Medicine, and bedside. Scope will include adults, neonates, pediatrics, adolescent and geriatric patients.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under supervision on an on-site physical therapist performs the following duties, these responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Completes progress reports for counter-signature by therapist.
• Reports change in status and response to treatment to the therapist for modification when indicated.
• Completes statistical reports of attendance as needed.
• Carries out the treatment program established by the physical therapist.
• Administers modalities as prescribed, reporting results to the therapist and prescribing physicians.

1. Graduation from an Associate Degree program for Physical Therapist Assistants either registered by the New York State Education Department or which has received interim or final approval from the American Physical Therapy Association; and,
2. Current certification and registration with the New York State Education Department as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
Note: Physical Therapist Assistants must work under the supervision of a Physical Therapist who is licensed by and currently registered with the New York State Education Department.

KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:

• Highly organized individual.
• Bi-lingual preferred.

EQUIPMENT/MACHINES OPERATED:

• Various Rehab Equipment and modalities of care.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in an acute inpatient and outpatient Rehab Medicine facility is preferred.
