Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 40 hours; flexible to the needs of the program.
Qualifications: Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy. Certified and registered by the New York State Education Department as an OTA. Experience working with the developmentally disabled preferred. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling, in excess of 30 pounds.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Authorized to work in the United States and pass all background clearances.
Summary/Objective: Provide individual OT treatments to identify people receiving services through the Agency based on treatment plans and as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Report progress of goals to the Occupational Therapist. Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice as well as all agency specific policies and procedures. Administer direct treatments as indicated by an OT/R that is licensed by the New York State Education Department as appropriate. Document therapeutic interventions in a manner that is compliant with industry standards and that will achieve reimbursement from our funding sources.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:
- Complete 36 contact hours of continuing education requirements as delineated by national OT credentialing agencies (i.e. NBCOT) as well as any state requirements applicable over a three (3) year renewal period to maintain credentials as a COTA.
- Administer direct treatments as indicated by an OT/R that is licensed by the New York State Education Department as appropriate.
- Report progress of goals to the Occupational Therapist.
- Document therapeutic interventions in a manner that is compliant with industry standards and that will achieve reimbursement from our funding sources.
- Adhere to professional, ethical and legal standards of practice as well as all agency specific policies and procedures.
- Complete all documentation within timelines outlined by agency, departmental and regulatory standards.
- Conduct, participate in, attend and complete all in-services as requested and/or approved by supervisor and/or Occupational Therapist.
- Complete documentation in compliance with applicable regulations and Medicaid standards for reimbursement.
- Provide individual OT treatments to identify people receiving services through Agency based on treatment plans and as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
- Maintain records and inventory of OT supplies and equipment; make recommendations in the ordering/purchasing of materials.
- Assist the Occupational Therapist in instructing people served in activities of daily living and functional skills.
- Under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist, act as a resource person to other staff in respect to the use of adaptive equipment, handling techniques and daily living skills.
- Participate in team meetings as requested by supervisor or Occupational Therapist.
- Attend and satisfactorily complete all in-services as required.
- Maintain and/or repair OT equipment, orthotics, adaptive equipment and wheelchairs when necessary and within ability.

Supervisory Responsibility: There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.
Travel: Travel site to site within Jefferson County is expected as assigned.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; lift; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work may require lifting, pushing, or pulling in excess of 30 pounds.
