Job Description

Category Manager - Massachusetts - Hybrid


Our client, a rapidly emerging pharmaceutical company in MA is looking for a category manager to join their growing procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity to lead several categories and team of direct reports as well as shape strategy, for an ambitious category manager looking for a new challenge.


Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for the assigned category in accordance with organisational policies and procedures
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting
  • Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure they meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical sourcing practices
  • Conduct market research and stay up-to-date with industry trends to identify potential opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements for the assigned category
  • Provide leadership and direction to procurement team members
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of procurement activities and financial performance for the assigned category
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with suppliers
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary


Qualifications


  • Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software
  • Strong leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • At least 5 years of experience within the the life science industry (pharmaceuticals, medical device, Bio-Tech)
  • 10+ years of procurement experience
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans
  • Strong understanding of procurement process and supplier management
