Job Summary


The Student Accounts Representative will receive and maintain the records of student payments for tuition, general receipts, financial aid disbursement, tuition waivers, refunds and other payments so that funds are handled and accounted for properly and accurately under general supervision. The incumbent processes cash, check, credit card, and electronic deposit transactions at a teller window. Provides customer service to Minneapolis College students on any matter related to their financial accounts. Work requires processing complexity (number and variety of transactions and/or accounts). Customer service work also includes explaining financial, collection and enrollment policy and procedures. Customer service contact includes in-person, phones, and other correspondence.
Responsibilities include but, not limited to:

  • Review and update accounts balances.
  • Provide student payroll customer service in-person, email and phone.
  • Respond to customer correspondence such as department emails and other customer service requests.
  • Answering questions or concerns regarding account information, financial aid disbursements and tuition refunds and waivers.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to operate office machines and proficiency with personal computers and software including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills sufficient to answer questions and explain policy and procedures. Response to customer questions should be organized, logical, and concise; use correct grammar, show word choice appropriate for message/audience; and be relayed in a clear pleasant speaking voice.
  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
  • Skill in math sufficient to review financial data, apply formulas to numerical data, calculate account balances and amounts owed.
  • Knowledge of basic financial accounting and the technical skills necessary to carry out the cashiering function, and other assigned duties in accordance to laws, policies and procedures for handling and depositing of state funds.
  • Interpersonal/human-relations skills sufficient to provide information in a tactful manner.

Additional Requirements

Current and former employees must be in good standings at Minneapolis College for consideration.
