Job Description

The University Campus Store is seeking part-time retail associates to engage and connect with students, faculty, staff and fans of the University of Utah. We are looking for staff to fulfill a variety of positions, including cashiers, on-line order fulfillment, textbook sales, sales floor staff in the Utah Red Zone, Utech, School and office supplies, back-stocking and organization of stock rooms.

Responsibilities
Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority.
Determine customer needs based on customer preferences; suggest additional merchandise to compliment customer selection.
Demonstrate knowledge of store products and services to build sales and minimize returns.
Demonstrate proficiency in POS systems.
Retrieve additional merchandise at customers’ request (i.e., retrieve merchandise from stockroom; pull merchandise to assist customers in fitting room).
Develop new business and expand client base through in-store interaction, suggestive selling, and on the floor presence.
Maintain department recovery standards, including selling floor and fitting rooms.
Deliver optimal merchandise execution presentation through merchandise placement, execution, and style, including visual elements.
Ensure accurate merchandise pricing, and process markdowns in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist in inventory and markdown process.
Assist in picking, packing, and shipping merchandise to fulfill customer orders as needed.
Adhere to Asset Protection policies and procedures, including shortage prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of retail sales experience; a minimum of one year of experience supervising employees and buying merchandise; and effective oral and written communication skills required. A commitment to the concept of excellence in service is expected from the incumbent. An Associate Degree in Business, or a related field, or two years of related college work along with the above requirements is preferred. Other specific preferences may be called for, depending on the unique needs in a given area.

Preferences
This is an entry level position. Training will be provided. Staff must be able to work Sa-F 15-20 hours a week summer and fall semester. All staff are expected to work a Saturday rotation schedule, working at least 2 Saturdays a month, and every home football game during Fall Semester.
