Job Details


Purchase produce within assigned categories or commodities


  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with producers in assigned category or commodity
  • Work with the Operations team to minimize spoilage
  • Work with Senior Managers on promotional and pricing strategies for your assigned categories or commodities
  • Participate in supplier business reviews with the owner of the company
  • Take into account supply agreements set up by upper Manager
  • Own PO and data accuracy
  • Establishes and maintains a reputation of credibility and responsiveness; promptly returns vendor and store phone calls and ensures timely
  • Ensure that pricing is competitive and an excellent value to customers
  • Maintain vendor relationships; work with vendors and Buyers to help negotiate better terms and costs for the merchandise being purchased.
  • Provide timely and thorough feedback to growers regarding product quality
  • Create quarterly and yearly vendor contracts
  • Reconcile invoices against received purchase orders
  • Work with the QA team to ensure all inbound produce meets standards for quality, condition, and grade
  • Keep target goals by storage zone and category
  • Assist in cost negotiations
  • Set and monitor pricing to ensure that financial and departmental targets are met
  • Take into account Produce Field Buyer
  • Interpret projections from the Data team to ensure adequate supply to fulfill demand in the warehouse
  • Audit gross margin data
  • Provide short-term forecasts to producer partners for upcoming needs
  • Make and resolve credit requests
