The Business Systems Analyst role serves as a liaison between the Business Analyst and software development teams. S/he translates the initial business requirement through analysis of interconnected systems to validate the functional and non-functional requirements and creates a set of technical specifications to aid in the solution design for implementation. S/he conducts an analysis of data, systems integration, and flows to support the creation of solutions and documentation including nonfunctional requirements.

A Day in the Life
  • Drive progress during the requirements stage of a project by ensuring all integration points from a systems and data perspective are analyzed and documented in the technical specifications
  • Help to define the scope of assigned project work
  • Responsible for gathering and documenting functional and nonfunctional Specifications
  • Ensure that requirements are aligned with the technical specifications
  • Work with the business to determine use patterns and growth expectations to ensure there is documentation of the nonfunctional requirements of the project

Requirements
  • Experience in documenting technical specifications (functional and non-functional)
  • Excellent communication both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Understanding and experience with analysis of legacy platforms, software, and hardware
  • Analytical skills with a bend to data flow documentation and enterprise relationship documents
  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with SAP S4/HANA a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or 5+ years’ equivalent work experience
  • System and data analysis experience with mapping current and existing data flows between systems
  • Systems/process knowledge with a strong emphasis on modern software design, including mobile products
  • Experience with process improvement
  • Strong facilitation and organizational skills
  • Understanding of software development life cycle (multiple disciplines Agile/Scrum, waterfall etc.)
