Business Planning Director
The Role
AMD’s Component Channel business group creates RYZEN desktop products which are designed for the most demanding developers, artists, and gamers - people who demand responsiveness and power efficiency from their PC. RYZEN stormed the market in 2017 and continues to excite people across the globe.
The Person
We sell both B2B and B2C for DIY PC builders, enthusiast gamers, and System Integrators for gaming, commercial, and workstation PCs. As the Business Planning leader for the Component Channel business your primary mission will be to effectively research the personal computing market, develop strategies and plans to gain market share and product gross margin, align with Channel geographic leads, and effectively communicate these plans to executive management and peer organizations (finance, supply chain, sales). You will be reporting to the business leader for AMD’s Client Channel portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
  • Interpretation of corporate goals and how Client Channel can impact those goals
  • Planning and tracking of regional OPEX to drive customer-led and AMD-led promotional campaigns around the globe
  • Weekly tracking and reporting of business performance, product sales, and other metrics relevant to help planning and steering and directing the business.
  • Market research and interaction with key global and regional stakeholders to understand market trends
  • Creation of high-impact business strategies including NPI strategies, pricing strategies, and promotion strategies to affect the immediate to +18 months
  • Alignment with sales, finance, regional leaders, supply chain, and other teams
  • Creation and documentation of business plans, including volume, mix, revenue, margin, and market share
  • Communication of strategies and plans to executive team, up to the CXO level
Preferred Experience
  • Strong organizational skills - Ability to work across a large organization and get things done
  • Pre-existing understanding of the PC market, with personal interest in the desktop and PC gaming segment
  • Relevant experience using tools such as Python, R, PowerBI, DAX, etc.
  • Ability to quickly create effective strategies with imperfect or insufficient datasets
  • Executive-level presentation and communication skills - ability to speak with confidence
  • Experience with data mining, predictive modelling & machine learning algorithms, optimization & simulation.
  • Exceptional time-management skills - ability to handle multiple ongoing projects/initiatives
  • Expert level skills in data analysis, modeling, scripting, reporting and visualization.
Academic Credentials
BS and/or MS degree in Data Sciences, Statistics or Mathematics, Business Management or Finance from a top-tier university
MBA is a strong plus.
