Job Description

Overview

The Business office manager is responsible for individually completing or supervising all business aspects of the nursing home.

Supervisory responsibilities

The Business Office Manger is responsible for supervising other administrative positions at the facility-admissions, accounts payable clerk, receptionist, payroll and human resources.

Qualifications

The minimum qualifications of the Business office Manager position include the following:

  • Effective user of technology, including personal computer and software applications in job functions. Examples include Microsoft Outlook, Email, Word, Excel, Internet, and use of billing and accounting software.
  • Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Strong organizational skills, including managing the outcome of others, and the ability to effectively multitask.
  • Experience: Relevant long-term care or health care experiences is preferred, but not required.
  • Education or experience with accounting functions, including accounts payable, billing, account receivable collections, and ban reconciliations. A degree is preferred, but not required with sufficient relevant experience.
  • Posses’ strong interpersonal skills, including communication with supervisors, other staff and managers in the facility, vendors and effective communication with residents and family members.
  • Ability to effectively manage outcomes of this position as well as the outcomes of others in an environment of accountability.
  • Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in healthcare related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and policy procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in statistical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands

The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and touch; reach with arms and hands; and talk or hear. Occasional physical effort with medium to heavy objects may be required. Transferring residents weighing between 10 to 25 pounds is occasionally required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
