The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Business Intelligence Professional (Remote Optional).

The Development Office within the University of Notre Dame University Relations is looking for a BI Professional to join our analytics team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining interactive Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support data driven decisions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with Tableau, Business Objects, Salesforce, SQL and a passion for developing data driven solutions. We expect this role to provide valuable insights to leadership that will help shape Notre Dame's Development strategy moving forward. Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and Develop:
  • Work with data engineers and other stakeholders to integrate Tableau with Salesforce and data sources
  • Provide technical expertise in areas of reporting architecture, design, and implementation
  • Work with business users to gather requirements, design and implement data models, and provide guidance on best practices for data visualization and analysis
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Tableau dashboards and reports
  • Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards, SQL and Business Objects reports for the Development Department.
  • Design and implement data quality checks and data validation processes
  • Train and mentor junior Tableau developers
  • Present analytical findings in a clear, concise, and impactful manner in visual form via Tableau and/or Salesforce dashboards
Measure:
  • Assist in the creation of strategic, operational, and financial metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs) and scorecards to measure organizational performance
  • Assist in the development of dashboards to inform and guide the advancement of the University's mission through philanthropic efforts
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the key strategic databases and capabilities that inform the ongoing strategy of the organization

Monitor & Troubleshoot:
  • Monitor and track industry and peer trends, and analyze data to determine potential impact on strategy
  • Monitor the success of strategic initiatives; troubleshoot and recommend modifications as necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • At least 1 year of experience building visualization solutions using software other than Tableau (e.g., Business Objects, SQL, Salesforce Reports)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • At least 3-4 years of experience working as a BI Professional in developing and designing complex reports, visualizations, and dashboards with BI toolsets such as Tableau, Business Objects, or Salesforce.
  • Proven experience writing SQL to query complex datasets and working with analytics
  • Advise on process improvements and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis and visualization best practices
  • Certification as a Certified Tableau Professional
  • At least 2 years of experience building visualizations as a Tableau Developer
Professional Qualifications:
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent project management, organizational skills and strong customer service skills
  • Proven ability to plan, organize and implement processes, procedures and programs-managing multiple projects and prioritizing in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate with, influence and command the respect and confidence of colleagues in the Development and University colleagues
  • Ability to work with end-users to help determine needs and provide solutions to assist in maximizing their uses of data and information
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and effectively summarize and communicate key findings
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Ability to analyze, identify and troubleshoot problems within systems and within interfaces between applications


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in higher education or research environments
  • Other Certifications like Certified BI Professional (CBIP)
  • Experience with other programming languages (Python or R)
