Millions of pet parents with unique needs visit Chewy.com looking for products for their beloved pets. We have the task to decide what products features should be build, how to measure the new product functionality and was the newly released product feature performing as expected.


Meet Product and Customer Analytics team @ Chewy. We apply the best of data engineering and business intelligence tools to answer these questions. The mission of our team is to deliver data-driven insights that help us make the best product decisions for Chewy customers. We accomplish this by governing customer event instrumentation, creating analytics that are accessible and actionable by business partners, and running A/B experiments to measure the success of our product features. We aim to be an organization that identifies, validates, and prioritizes key product decisions at scale across Chewy. Our program vision revolves around correctness, consistency, completeness, and accessibility of our data.


We are hiring a BI Engineer II, based in either Boston, MA or Bellevue, WA. In this position, you will help us build scalable analytics solutions, supported by robust data infrastructure and models. You will demonstrate a passion for delivering outstanding customer experience, experience of building web analytics solutions and will bring communication skills that allow you to instill trust in the team that you are working with.


What You’ll Do


  • Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data models, reports/dashboards/BI solutions for analytics and deep learning
  • Implement data ingestion routines both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes
  • Gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture
  • Produce comprehensive, usable data set documentation, metadata, BI reports, Dashboards and insights
  • Provide on-line reporting and analysis using business intelligence tools and a logical abstraction layer against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sources


What You’ll Need


  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and data modeling
  • 4+ years of experience building automated data warehousing environments for production reports or tables. Familiarity with Redshift, Snowflake DWH’s and S3 or similar data lakes preferred
  • Advanced ability to draw insights from data and clearly communicate them to the stakeholders and senior management as required.
  • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles.
  • 3+ years’ experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Looker, Quicksight or similar (familiarity with Tableau preferred).
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • 2+ years of experience on Python/ R or similar coding languages
  • Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or ‘dirty’ data.
  • Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment.
  • 4+ years of industry experience in a role requiring application of analytic skills to integrate data into operational/business planning or advanced degree.


Bonus


  • Experience building on AWS QuickSight, ElasticCache etc
  • Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting
  • Experience with statistical models and building predictive models from scratch
