Business Intelligence Developer Jobs

Background

McCarthy is seeking a full-time Business Intelligence Developer who will develop reports and dashboards that provide timely and accurate information and promote data-driven, intelligent business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities

Solution Analysis, Design and Development

• Leverage best practices and design patterns in implementing solutions. Actively contribute to establishing McCarthy’s design principles for reporting and analytics solutions.
• Design, develop and support ETL and ELT pipelines to import data into the data warehouse and make it available for reporting and analytics.
• Participate in code and design review to ensure alignment to standards and best practices
• Support procurement of new platforms and tools by evaluating technical capabilities.
• Monitor and audit report usage and adoption. Analyze shortfall in adoption and recommend corrective actions.
• CStrive to maintain a robust reporting and analytics environment to promote long-term growth and flexibility. Assist in developing a robust data architecture for analytics and reporting.
• Profile data in source systems and design data warehouse and data lake schemas.
• Design, build and implement reports and dashboards using Power BI. Leverage capabilities including Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI Service in developing solutions.
• Promote reusability by making use of existing components and capabilities such as Power BI Dataflows.

Support and Administration

• Provide technical support and guidance for efficient and effective resolution of issues. Respond to queries from business and IT partners in a timely manner to minimize disruption.

Security

• Ensure reporting solutions and infrastructure follow McCarthy’s security practices and guidelines.

Continuous Learning and Improvement

• Keep up with latest on tools and platforms by attending vendor events and continuous learning and development.
• Constantly seek to improve current solutions. Identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce manual effort and improve end-user experience.

Internal Relationship Management

• Develop strong partnerships with internal IT staff and business partners to ensure solutions address McCarthy’s needs effectively. Work closely with business analysts and application teams in understanding requirements and building solutions that promote data-driven decision making.

Skills and Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with Azure Data Factory (pipelines, mapping and wrangling dataflows) and Azure Data Lake Gen 2
• Solid understanding of data warehouse and data lake concepts and design (including star schema design)
• Experience with T-SQL (queries, stored procedures and DDL)
• 3-5 years working with Microsoft SQL or Snowflake in a business setting
• Experience applying Agile principles to deliver solutions
• Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
• Highly self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Experience querying API endpoints
• 3-5 years using Power BI (including DAX, Power Query M, and the Power BI Service) in a business setting
• Knowledgeable of visual design best practices
