What You Get To Do
Employee must ensure that all tasks and job duties are completed. This is a hybrid role in which you will perform the role of a business analyst and software engineer combined, offering support and guidance to the new employees during their early employment period. You will be responsible for the detailed preparation of the solution concept selected in the design phase as the basis for the order execution and for the development of control engineering solutions for our customers using innovative information technology.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to the new employees
  • Responsible for Controls Information and knowledge transfer for the department (local at SWENG KUS) and within your own special field (including setting up and driving associated processes)
  • Engage in active knowledge transfer not only of self-development but also of others in relevant to the industry topics (through lectures, trainings, further education, expert advice, and/or problem solving)
  • Coordinate customer projects with the software suppliers
  • Provide support to the project-implementing departments (Planning, Development, Commissioning, etc.)
  • Create development requests
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing and internal testing
  • Support department management with the development and implementation of assigned strategic initiatives
  • Conduct continuous updating of customer specific SW-documents during the change order execution and responsible for the integration of the change requests
  • Perform administrative tasks to support the Supervisor (e.g., approval of hours for other team members in KNAPP’s time tracking system)
  • Monitor and address any deviations from the original scope of supply
  • Build up additional knowledge through external material, optimizing the flow of ideas and effective solutions, e.g., stay apprised on current trends and innovations, study applicable marketing and new technical material, attend seminars on relevant topics, etc.
  • Prepare provision of modern specialist training materials (e.g., eLearning)
  • Perform internal review of work from other employees in the department (e.g., documents produced for customer’s approval)
  • Check the layout for the feasibility of the software processes
  • Actively support the stakeholders in the department, by asking and determining, who needs information/ ongoing updates on the subject, in what granularity, and for what purpose
  • Organize and participate in planning meetings with the mechanical, hardware, and electrical engineers
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for the customer communication / clarification of details
  • Develop and improve planning documents
  • Support Project Management
  • Creating interface documents, specification sheets, internal documents for project-executing departments, and test plans (factory, internal, and customer-specific acceptance tests)
What You Have
  • Sound understanding of system components of KNAPP-Group (Function, software, hardware)
  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Logistics, related discipline, or equivalent work experience (required)
  • Strong knowledge of inventory strategies commonly deployed in the process of warehousing
  • Ability to plan and hold meetings with the planning team and customers
  • Sound understanding of complex processes in the workflow of our customers
  • 3+ years of intralogistics automation software and process design experience (required)
  • Excellent knowledge of intralogistics, automated storage systems and understanding of complex processes
  • Language skills: English required; bilingual preferred
  • Computer skills (MS Office, KNAPP-internal tools)
  • 5+ years with KNAPP (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of intralogistics/automation software architecture (WMS, WCS, SRC), interface communication, programming, databases, and data structures
  • Sound understanding for integration possibilities of the KNAPP system into customer environment
  • Knowledge of picking technologies such as automated storage systems, goods-to-person, voice, PTL, A-frames, unit sorters and different methods of deployment of each technology
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Required to go beyond the standard working hours to fulfill workload requirements.
  • Physical requirements may include sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to travel by air both domestically (U.S.) and internationally (primarily Austria and other parts of Europe, as well as Canada)
  • Professional office etiquette is always required
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Travel is required (ca. 30%)
