Bus Driver Jobs

Under the direction of the Support Services Director, Bus Driver is responsible for transporting constituents to and from events.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Inspects inventory of medical supplies pre and post trip
• Maintains records of mileage, routes, times and incidents; completes trip/inspection reports
• Performs pre and post inspection of the bus or van including that the vehicle is sufficiently fueled
• Assists elderly, children and/or disabled passengers on and off bus or van ensuring that passengers are wearing seat belts
• Prepares and maintains maps of routes and pick-up points
• Assists at Precinct functions as needed
• Operates a bus or multi-passenger van, transporting passengers to and from designated locations
• Keeps interior and exterior of vehicle clean and neat, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning windows/windshield

Education:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution

• Class B - CDL with passenger endorsement minimum

• Records information and complete paperwork of all trips
• Must comply with all traffic laws
• Must be punctual when reporting to work, prepared for the day's trip and responsible for the safety and security of all passengers to and from their destination
• Knowledgeable of driving safety practices, traffic laws and regulations
• Team-oriented and works well with others
• Ability to follow navigation devices and/or read maps
• Responsible for the inspection of vehicle's operational condition and completing the Driver's Trip Report
• A friendly, accommodating, and positive attitude
• Responsible for returning the vehicle in a clean and operable condition
• Must have and maintain a good driving record
• Must be able to communicate with passengers and assist with boarding and unloading of the vehicle
• Must have good verbal communication skills

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

• 40 hours per week within a 7 day work week
• Situations may require additional hours without prior notice
• This is a full time position
• Various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays as assigned

• Based on 26 Pay Periods

• Ability to drive a bus for extended periods of time
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• This position is prominently sedentary however, may require some light physical activity

• Ability to operate a bus under all driving and road conditions
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines
• Noise level in the work environment is usually average
• This job operates in the field operating a bus and/or passenger vehicle
