    Position Information

    Building Maintenance Repairer (BC-09)
    $5,389/month
    Performs maintenance and repair work in the upkeep of buildings, structures, and the equipment housed therein; and performs other related duties as required.


    Current Vacancies:
    • There is one (1) vacancy with the Honolulu Board of Water Supply.
    • Special Requirements: Work will involve working at heights and require fall protection. This position serves as a Disaster Response Worker and may be called to work while on off-duty status to respond to emergencies. Schedule may require work outside regular office work hours and days. Employee shall provide a valid after-hours contact number.
    • There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Transportation Services, Transportation Rail Division. Under the general supervision of the Building and Equipment Maintenance Superintendent and the direct supervision of the Lead Building Maintenance Repairer, travels to and participates in a wide variety of work involved in the repair and maintenance of rail facilities.
      • Special Requirements: Work will involve working at heights and require fall protection.     Minimum Qualification Requirements

    At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
    Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position.

    Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of: the practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in the carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, mechanical, and electrical trades; plumbing and electrical equipment in buildings; occupational hazards; and safety practices and procedures. Such experience must also have demonstrated the ability to: determine the need for repairs involving a variety of building trades; use hand and power tools, power equipment, and testing devices utilized in a variety of building trades; install electrical and plumbing fixtures; read and interpret blueprints and sketches; estimate time and material needed to perform a job; do mechanical work with dexterity and safety; understand and follow oral and written instructions; and handle weights and loads.

    LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
    Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
    The current vacancy requires a valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.
