Description of the Position:

Responsible for the designing, planning, including execution of all projects, expansions, retrofits, or property modifications through completion in accordance with approved plans, within projected budget ensuring compliance to all local, state, and federal codes. Team Member will work independently under little to no supervision. This position relies on extensive experience and excellent judgment to perform the functions of the job.

Primary Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:

  • Work within budgetary constraints to be cost effective, resourceful, and efficient.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching and/or correcting Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems toward a non-biased outcome.
  • Ability to create construction documents plans and oversee disruption mitigations for construction projects.
  • Maintains accurate records of all projects, updating property drawings both hard/working copies and CAD files, RFI logs, field instructions and transmittals and the Facilities department library archive.
  • Uses advanced planning concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues and provide high level expertise and assistance to senior management on all aspects of capital project planning.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Ability to support property operations with CAD designed recommendations.
  • Ensure that all projects are completed on a timely basis and costs are maintained within the project’s assigned budget.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable safety requirements (Tribal, Federal etc.). Work closely with department heads to ensure safety for the company’s Team Members and guests.
  • Works with outside consultants, i.e., architects, designers, electrical and mechanical engineers as well as other professionals or technical consultants to successfully complete projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times, resolving guest complaints and ensuring guest satisfaction. Greet guests in a courteous and caring manner using personalized service.
  • Supervises any Team Member(s) under span of control.
  • All team members are obligated to support and uphold the Valley View Casino & Hotel’s Standards of Excellence as outlined in the Team Member Guide to Success.
  • Ability to research, collect and analyze data from departments to develop project programs.
  • Approve or deny all change orders or requests.
  • Responsible for casino construction, refurbishment, and maintenance projects identifying opportunities for in-house labor and/or outside contractors.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent, regular attendance record.
  • Responsible for the development of project plans and recommends revisions updates as needed.
  • Coordinates and facilitates complex infrastructure shutdowns and maintenance.
  • Responsible for conducting all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Responsible for identifying and proposing solutions to potential problem areas, property buildings and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of casino and/or hospitality organizations, activities, functions, and goals.
  • Strong analytical and qualitative skills.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Advanced skills in using electronic spreadsheets, database modeling applications, automated reporting, word processing and presentation software.
  • Demonstrated experience working with CAD or related software.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret building plans and specifications and communicate information to lay persons.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings and blueprints, submittals, field instructions, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Background in facilities planning, space utilization, capital improvements, and capital funding mechanisms.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering or in a related field. Five years of experience in Construction, Facilities, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted for the education requirement.
  • Will be required to carry a company provided cellphone at all times to receive and respond to work related calls including ability to prepare request for proposal, timelines and projects.
  • Extensive experience in planning projects
  • Extensive experience in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
  • Must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and policy and procedure manuals written in the English language.
  • Demonstrated experience and advanced knowledge/skills in architecture, or other planning-related fields.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide audience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening test.
  • Demonstrated proficiency working with Microsoft Project including Microsoft Office products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with a tribal enterprise.

Physical Requirements of the Position:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • The Team Member is regularly required to sit and use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
  • Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception) is needed for navigating office and casino environments, reading and reviewing reports and policies, operating data processing equipment and other essential job functions.
  • The Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The Team Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear.

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to second hand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
  • The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.
  • The Team Member is usually subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The Team Member is regularly subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.
