Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Partnerships Coordinator will work with the director to facilitate long-term engagement strategies with internet service providers, communities, and other stakeholders for broadband expansion. The Partnerships Coordinator will help to establish and support community broadband committees to plan projects that further KOBD’s mission to connect all Kansans with high-speed, affordable broadband. This role will also work alongside the GIS analyst to procure ISP, state agency, and other eligible entity’s broadband availability data to ensure transparency of awarded grant funds and the accuracy of the state broadband map.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively engage with and support municipal broadband committees: build on existing relationships to enter communities not yet developing broadband strategies to connect them with their peers and encourage engagement: develop Community Broadband Toolkit. Gather feedback and address concerns on infrastructure deployment and policy/regulations
  • Engage state agencies to promote transparency and collaboration on broadband-relevant initiatives and projects. Partner with state agencies, ISPs, communities to invest in and promote high-impact broadband applications across key sectors, including education, health care, agriculture, transportation, workforce and economic development and public safety
  • Encourage collaboration and data transparency between service providers and government: coordinate with GIS analyst on twice-yearly updates to state broadband availability map

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Excellent research organizational and communications skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree required: graduate degree preferred
  • Experience in promoting collaborative public-private
  • Experience in government role partnering with private sector

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with communications and knowledge management tools
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Produce high-quality communication materials that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
