Job Description

Summary
The marketing coordinator assists the Marketing & Communications team with implementation of marketing and communication strategies and tactics for student recruitment, college advancement, institutional messaging and brand development as well as managing administrative tasks to support the division’s operations. Specific responsibilities will range from writing, editing and design tasks to coordination of logistics with external vendors and campus partners. In addition, the marketing coordinator will manage a group of student workers who assist in the administrative functioning of the division and contribute to marketing projects.
Essential Functions
  • Coordinate activities involved in active marketing projects, helping to keep the marketing team and its campus partners focused and up-to-date on project timelines.
  • Proof copy submitted for the Wheaton Magazine, particularly Class Notes and related material provided by volunteer contributors.
  • Review requests to use the college’s name and brand as submitted through licensing and collaborate with members of the marketing team to strengthen the brand identity through adherence to guidelines.
  • Contribute to the production of digital and print marketing collateral and communications materials through writing, editing and proofing, and preparing proofs for projects as a member of the marketing team.
  • Coordinate logistics involved in the creation of marketing collateral, including bids, requests for proposals, delivery and fulfillment information, and project payment and invoicing.
  • Supervise part-time student employees who perform marketing and administrative duties, including managing student work schedules, providing training, oversight, and reviewing and approving timesheets.
  • Administrative duties to support the division’s operations and other tasks as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and complete projects on deadline
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to research and work independently
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with a wide range of colleagues and clients
  • Bachelor degree, preferably in marketing, communications, creative writing, journalism or a related field
  • Knowledge of basic design principles, particularly as they apply to print materials and collateral
  • Familiarity with editorial style guides, such as the Chicago Manual of Style and the AP Style Guide.
  • Solid understanding of the marketing function in business or nonprofit organizations

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with digital and offset printing process as well as the broad concepts involved in fulfillment
  • Solid understanding of the editorial style guides: Chicago Manual of Style and the AP Style Guide.
  • Moderate abilities in using the Adobe Creative Suite of applications (i.e., Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and InCopy)
  • 1-3 years of experience working in marketing, communications or public relations, for an organization or in an agency setting

Compensation and Benefits

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $42,000-$45,000.
The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.
