Position Description


The Assistant Boys Varsity Football Coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for assisting in the overall management of the Varsity boys football team under the leadership of the Head Boys Varsity Football Coach. This position is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for physical fitness, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in football. This position requires travel and work on weekends and evenings.

The Assistant Boys Varsity Football Coach must exhibit high standards of professionalism and communication. They must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of working with high school students. They must have the ability to interact with students, parents, and staff, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. This person must support the value of an education.


Responsibilities

Functions & Responsibilities


  • Attends work regularly and is punctual to all practices and games.
  • Ensures that student athletes adhere to training rules, class and grade requirements, and rules of behavior on the court, in conditioning, and in the locker room.
  • Maintains necessary records and completes Paycom timecard within the specified timeframes and manner.
  • Ensures that Branson and League policies, rules and regulations regarding the conduct of athletic activities and athletes are followed.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
  • Develop an appropriate training program and practice schedules.
  • Professionally represents Branson in all interactions with the community at large.
  • Support the coordination and supervision of the Boys Varsity Football program.
  • Ensures the proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Manages other duties as assigned.
  • Obtain advance approval for the Athletic Director for all team-related expenditures.
  • Works with the Athletic Department to plan and organize practices and games schedules.
  • Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Also manages inventory.
  • Maintains a safe environment for student athletes at all times.
  • Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, and officials. Resolves all conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Ensures the regular supervision of student athletes at home and away games and ensures appropriate behavior.


Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • CPR Certified through American Red Cross.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • One to two years of experience as a football coach.
  • Ability to make decisions and handle conflicts.
  • Experience working and communicating with diverse groups of people.
  • Problem-solving skills and creativity.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to act professionally and keep students’ records confidential.


Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to carry training kit and coolers for long distances.
  • Must be able to assist with athletes of various weights and heights.
  • Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Must be able to bend at hips and knees.
  • Use strength to lift items, raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
  • Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills and be able to walk long distances.
