Summary
The Biostatistician will provide data management and statistical support for research and operational projects within the Center for Epidemiology and Population Health and the Research Resource Office. The successful candidate will work closely with Directors and Faculty on a wide range of projects to meet the goals of the Center and Department. They will also collaborate with other Faculty and Staff across the Department and College, as well as with collaborators outside of the institution.
Epidemiology and Population Health is a vibrant research division within the Department of Pediatrics. They are expanding to meet the growing research needs at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital.
Job Duties
- Works with Faculty to identify and correct data errors for specific projects.
- Assists Faculty with defining project plans, milestones and timelines.
- Attends project meetings and capture decisions, issues, and action items.
- Develops and implements databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Filters and "cleans" data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and project indicators to locate and correct code problems.
- Acquires data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
- Assists with writing documentation for reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
- Works with Directors and Faculty to prioritize projects and information needs.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Interprets data and analyzes results using statistical techniques and provides ongoing reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- SAS, Stata, R, or other statistical software experience.
