Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
Under general supervision, works within the UofSC School of Medicine-Columbia (SOMC) Research Center for Transforming Health (RCTH) in a hands-on role to support research and a team science approach. Provides expert statistical consultation and support on study design, statistical approaches, analysis, and scientific standards for the preparation of protocols, grants, and manuscripts for multiple projects. Plans and oversees analyses and data management for various types of data and studies. Provides training in biostatistics, data management, and study design to SOMC faculty, staff, and student. Assists in curriculum development and instruction in research methods. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in related field with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Experience teaching at the graduate level.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Experience in advanced methods of statistical analyses. Experience writing and publishing statistical data. Experience collaborating with experimental and clinical investigators, experience in study design and data analysis for a wide range of experimental, observational, clinical and longitudinal studies, experience with analysis of large medical data bases, experience in participating in externally funded grant projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and reasoning skills. Ability to coordinate and conduct concurrent tasks. Ability to demonstrate independence in carrying out the analyses of large data sets. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.
