Job Summary
The Neuroepidemiology Unit, led by Dr. Maitreyi Mazumdar, addresses the mission of the Department of Neurology by researching the environment’s effect on children’s neurological development. Our study covers a wide range of conditions, including congenital disabilities, epilepsy, and COVID-19, and takes place in settings around the world, including Asia, Africa, and the United States.
This Biostatistician I will be responsible for:

  • Provides statistical expertise on the design of study case report forms and databases.
  • Prepares statistical reports and collaborates with study team to prepare abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Responsible for statistical aspects of study design, including sample size calculations and randomization schemes.
  • Understands the necessity to be responsive to and communicate effectively with colleagues and study team members whether by phone, email or in person.Communicates appropriately, timely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Capable of assisting with the teaching of statistical programming to clinical staff, trainees, and other BCH employees.
  • Works with investigators and other statisticians to select appropriate statistical methods and to analyze data including identifying data inconsistencies from laboratory, interventional, and observational studies.
  • Participates in meetings with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful completion of statistical deliverables.
  • Able to understand the objectives of a study and ensure that the statistical design matches the overall goals of the study.

In order to qualify you must:

  • Have completed a Master’s Degree in Statistics or Biostatistics
  • Communicates appropriately, timely, and effectively, both orally and in writing. Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency in working with standard statistical packages (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, SPSS) and learning other project-specific software.
  • Code is accurate, efficient, well commented and organized. Working knowledge of at least one statistical package.
  • Understands the necessity to be responsive to and communicate effectively with colleagues and study team members whether by phone, email or in person.
