The mission of the Allen Institute is to unlock the complexities of bioscience and advance our knowledge to improve human health. - Analyze data from clinical trials, biomarker research, and/or target identification and prioritization
- Work closely with immunologists and bioinformaticians to explore omics data for hypothesis generation and testing
- Generating high-quality figures and tables for presentations and publication
- Use both standard and tailored methods to analyze clinical metadata and multi-modal omics data, including but not limited to: scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, CITE-seq, TEA-seq, flow cytometry, and proteomics
- Assist scientists in data analysis and data presentation
- Identify potential biomarkers and/or drug targets for disease of interest and perform network analysis
- Review, implement, troubleshoot, and improve analytic methods developed by others internally or externally
- Meet analysis deadlines and be able to pivot between multiple projects
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics or closely related discipline
- 2 years of equivalent experience in a biological research or industry setting
- Basic knowledge of human immunology
- Ability to learn and implement new software tools and packages
- Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative high paced environment under minimum supervision
- Familiarity with cloud computing and/or linux
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
- Master's degree in bioinformatics or closely related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in writing code for omics data analysis
- Fluency in R and/or Python
- Basic knowledge of molecular biology and wet-lab omics technologies
- Hands on experience analyzing high throughput omics data
- Good problem-solving skills, curious and eager to learn new skills
- Experience in generating high quality graphs for presentation and/or publication
- Experience using Git or similar version control system
- Experience in analyzing data from clinical trials, biomarker research, and/or target identification and prioritization
- 2 - 5 years of experience in industry research
- Demonstrated success in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Self-motivated, a team player, attentive to details, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- May enter laboratory environment - possible exposure to chemical, biological, or other hazardous substances.
- Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office equipment; repetitive motion with lab equipment
- Occasional evening and weekend hours required
- This role is currently able to work both remotely and onsite in a hybrid work environment. We are a Washington State employer, and the primary work location for all Allen Institute employees is 615 Westlake Ave N.; any remote work must be performed in Washington State.
