Position Responsibilities
Working with a coach and/or trainer, complete the Packaging Operations On the Job Training Program which includes, but is not limited to the following:
  • Demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality
  • Learn and comply with all SOP's and associated documentation
  • Complete Training Modules (Packaging Orientation, Packaging Safety, Packaging Safety Program, Packaging Colleague Expectations, and the department specific module for the packaging area assigned)
  • Complete daily timecards thoroughly and accurately
  • Learn and demonstrate good housekeeping practices
  • Learn the operation of Motorized Materials Handling Equipment as assigned
  • Learn functions of line clearance
  • Learn to wrap skids of product
  • Learn to respond to requests from customers for supplies and information
  • Understand and comply with all safety programs and procedures; ex. LOTO, MSDS, PPE
  • Learn to document steps accurately and legibly
  • Learn to de-corrugate material shipped from vendors
  • Learn the support of manufacturing departments through the movement of product, raw materials, and supplies in and out of the manufacturing areas
  • Learn proper staging and location areas for components and equipment
  • Learn to complete product specific packaging documents and log book entries
  • Complete job specific training check lists for 5 packaging lines
  • Use calculator to calculate amounts packaged, rejects, etc.
  • Learn equipment operation procedures and demonstrate understanding
  • Learn all types of communication (i.e. verbal, phone, e-mail) as required in the daily operation of the department
  • Learn to use Packaging related Standard Operating Procedures, Batch Records, Log Books and Job Aides
  • Learn to identify packaging component and finished goods quality expectations
  • Assist in material handling using manual operated pallet jacks
  • Complete training in cGMP practices, and demonstrate competency

Hours: 1st shift, 6:00am – 2:30pm
Education and Experience
Education Required: High School graduate or equivalent.
Education Preferred: One to two years of college and /or technical education. Six months prior packaging and/or manufacturing experience. Familiar with computer using Windows based applications.
Relevant Experience:
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Perform conversions within the metric system. Complete controlled documents and inventory calculations using basic math.
  • Shows respect for co-workers.
  • Understand and apply instructions in written, oral, and/or diagram formats. Multitask. Ability to recognize product quality issues based on company guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills. Read, interpret, and apply safety procedures, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and departmental procedures. Communicate effectively with peers and Team Leader. Document steps accurately and legibly.
  • Demonstrate basic mechanical skills.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Perform conversions within the metric system. Complete controlled documents and inventory calculations using basic math
  • Demonstration of personal computer usage.
