Title: Benefits Specialist

Supervised by: Compensation & Benefits Manager

Classification: Salaried/Exempt

Starting Salary: $66,000


Position Summary. As a Benefits Specialist, you will ensure our employees are familiar with and fully able to use Jubilee’s robust benefits package by serving as the primary daily contact with staff. You will troubleshoot, assist, and provide excellent, responsive customer care. You will also handle detailed daily administration of voluntary and mandated benefits


Responsibilities.

  • Process requests and receipts for wellness, tuition reimbursement, staff development funds, payroll advances, vacation reimbursement, referral bonuses and other benefits
  • Ensure excellence, accuracy, and readability of all communications and materials related to employee benefits
  • Administer benefits programs and provide excellent customer service to employees
  • Suggest innovations to improve benefits administration and employee satisfaction
  • Support annual open enrollment and promote benefits throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Assist employees with questions and issues related to benefits, leave scenarios, worker’s compensation claims, etc.
  • Run Medicaid Exclusions checks of employees and contractors monthly
  • Work with Onboarding Specialist to collect and verify employee documents such as driver’s license and vaccination information
  • Submit responses and documentation for unemployment hearings, workers compensation and similar
  • Notify employees of vacation and sabbatical eligibility and track same
  • File any benefits-related paperwork
  • Cross-train to assist with other HR functions such as hiring, onboarding, training and events management


Qualifications.

  • Associate’s degree in business, accounting, or related discipline preferred
  • Some eperience with compliance issues related to the role
  • 1+ years experience in a related field, such as human resources, benefits administration, payroll, etc.
  • Intermediate knowledge of commonly offered workplace benefits
  • Detail-orientation is critical
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, results-driven environment
  • Very strong technology skills to effectively use these systems and applications:
  • Impeccable follow-through and customer service
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent “people” skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is always a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgement and take initiative and make recommendations in resolving problems
  • True passion for the mission of the organization; desire to work with and learn from people who have intellectual and development disabilities
