Job Description

AUT Level II Technician - Bellingham, WA

Intertek is searching for an AUT Level II Technician to join our Asset Integrity Management (AIM) team at a client facility located in Bellingham, WA. Must be able to certify as an AUT Level II with experience using both the AUT Solutions and Wesdyne scanning systems. The AUT Level II Technician is responsible for the inspection of assigned materials, objects, or systems using multiple AUT Equipment models and systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Adopt an Intertek “Marketing and Sales” attitude in all client, vendor, employee, and outside contact interactions.
  • Using Automated Ultrasonic Test equipment test for flaws in materials, piping and welds. Working knowledge of semi-automated and automated encoding required.
  • Should be able to organize and report the results of any assigned NDT.
  • Should be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which qualified and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on the job training and guidance of assigned trainees and NDE Level I personnel.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment; interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

  • Valid Drivers' License and reliable driving record (required)
  • Prior Level II certification
  • Current TWIC card
  • Level II experience with AUT Solutions & Wesdyne scanning system (required)
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Automated UT(AUT) methods.
  • Computer skills, especially familiarity with MS Office applications. are necessary.

Additional experience and prior certification in other NDE methods (MT, PT, UTT, VT) preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Inspection personnel performing work on elevated piping shall be capable of wearing the required fall protection equipment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read the equivalent of the size and letters of the Jaeger II chart at a minimum distance of 12 inches and distinguish and differentiate the contrasts between colors illustrated on an Ishihara Test Chart.
  • Shall be able to climb ladders/platforms to heights of 225 feet, in increments of up to 40 feet at one time. Any fear of heights (acrophobia) should be identified.

The base wage or salary range for this position is $40.00 to $45.00. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
