Job Description

Founded in 1921, Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center’s vision is a community where everyone communicates effectively. The audiology department is dedicated to helping people hear better so they can fully enjoy the people and activities that bring meaning to each day.

Cleveland Hearing & Speech Center has an immediate opening for an Audiologist.

This position will have two primary responsibilities:

  • Clinical Audiology
  • Conduct hearing aid and assistive listening device consults to determine appropriate products
  • Serve a diverse payer mix: self-pay, Medicaid, private insurance including Third Party Administrators and a sliding fee scale program for those with limited income
  • Work at multiple outpatient clinic locations (urban and suburban) in the Greater Cleveland, OH area
  • Provide hearing testing including audiometry (routine, play, VRA), immittance, and otoacoustic emissions and auditory processing evaluations
  • Conduct community-based hearing screenings and assist/present community-based educational talks
  • Provide ongoing hearing aid services including in-house and manufacturer repairs
  • Perform hearing aid dispenses and follow-up including gathering outcomes using objective (real ear) verification of fitting
  • Work with patients from infants through seniors
  • Potential expansion into providing Cochlear Implant candidacy evaluations and activation, mapping, and ongoing follow-up through Cochlear America’s Provider Network.
  • Work with a team of 8 fellow audiologists
  • Hearing Service Provider for Help Me Grow
  • Work with a team of professionals including speech-language pathologists and physical and occupational therapists in a Primary Service Provider approach
  • Provide home visits for a state-funded, early intervention program for children with hearing loss in Cuyahoga and surrounding counties
  • Provide evidence-based interventions focused on meeting the needs of the family including helping them build language and literacy skills in their child
  • Help families understand the impact of their child’s hearing loss
  • Provide unbiased information to families on hearing aids, cochlear implants, and communication options
  • Link families to community resources

Required Skills

  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Access to reliable transportation and willingness to make home visits in Cuyahoga and surrounding counties
  • Active licensure by the State of Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board or eligibility
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate as a team member
  • Excellent analytical, written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Doctor of Audiology degree
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who are D/deaf or hard of hearing

Preferred Skills

  • Skills in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ohio Department of Education - school audiologist license or eligibility
