Job Description

SierTek Ltd. is seeking two Audiologist's to support an opportunity at Wright Patterson, AFB, Dayton, Ohio.

Position Overview

The 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the first human-centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization. Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Airman Systems Directorate (RH) and the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). The Wing delivers unparalleled capability to the Air Force through a combination of world class infrastructure and expertise of its diverse workforce of military, civilian and contractor personnel encompassing 75 occupational specialties including science and engineering, occupational health and safety, medical professions, technicians, educators, and business operations and support.


Essential Job Functions

  • Provide functional and consultative support to USAFSAM/PHR on investigations and data requests in relation to the Hearing Conservation Program.
  • Contribute to the field units through active participation in professional conferences, publications of peer-reviewed manuscripts, and presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Provide hearing conservation education and training at USAFSAM and during site visits, propose, support, and present research efforts in relation to hearing conservation.
  • Provide Field, Education & Training, and Research Support.
  • Provide Clinical Diagnostic Support.
  • Provide professional Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support to the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM), Epidemiology Consult Service Division (PHR).
  • Interface at the unit level with site visits to support research and telehealth related activities.
  • Provide diagnostic clinical audiological evaluations to include pure tone audiometry, immittance, speech, otoacoustic emission, and electrophysiology testing as needed for virtual and/or telehealth related activities.
  • Work with USAFSAM/PHR epidemiology SME’s to expand and maintain data sharing agreements with other DoD or civilian components related to hearing conservation, and coordinate research efforts including alternative HC program service delivery models.
  • Assist USAFSAM/PHR during collaborative efforts to increase data sharing capabilities and surveillance partnerships with base level users and other principal stakeholders in the USAFSAM/PHR surveillance systems.
  • Perform data collection, analysis and provide reports (in writing or verbally) as required through ad hoc reporting in support of USAFSAM/PHR’s hearing conservation mission.
  • Cultivate research protocols for prioritized research areas and submit these protocols to the appropriate IRB.
  • Collaborate regularly with other DoD components in reporting issues, suggesting solutions, and support hearing conservation best practices in relation to DOEHRS-HC/DR.
  • Coordinate and design appropriate education and training materials for use at base-level and USAFSAM, based on HC program best practices and DoD/USAF protocols.
  • Provide institutional review board (IRB) proposals and surveillance protocols related to hearing conservation topics.
  • Provide regular technical reports and worksheets using DOEHRS-HC/DR data when requested by base-level personnel, USAFSAM/PHR, the MAJCOM, Air Force Medical Readiness Agency (AFMRA), and Defense Health Agency (DHA). (CDRL- A007, Technical Reports)
  • Provide clinical audiology consultation and records review as needed for the HCP and the aeromedical consult service within USAFSAM.


Minimum Position Requirements

  • Possess at least two years of knowledge and experience in military audiology and/or occupational hearing conservation and prevention programs, and clinical care.
  • Be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of Applications.
  • Possess a Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree and board certification in Audiology (American Association of Audiology, American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, or American Board of Audiology).
  • Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background check.
  • Be current in Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training to be able to access and process identified medical data. Contractor personnel shall be current in Scientific and Technical Information (STINFO) training and Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative.
  • The Contractor must have a Non-Disclosure Agreement in place with their company, and the company must provide a copy to the Program Manager of this effort. This is necessary in order to mitigate transfer of any confidential, proprietary and/or sensitive information while in this position.
  • Possess experience providing general computer application support related to audiometers, audiometer accessories, audiometer software and hearing conservation-related databases.

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Possess experience in clinical research, data management and analysis, and research reporting/publishing.
