Are you an attorney that is attentive to detail, adept at negotiations and experienced with federal government contracts? With an emphasis on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex contracts relating to prime and subcontractor federal government contracts, commercial vendor contracts, including contracts supporting technology and IT security, this position provides legal advice, information, and risk management strategies to various business units on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues affecting the corporation and its subsidiaries. This role works with business leaders and other executives and provides oversight and leadership to other Legal staff on projects and serves as lead legal counsel on various enterprise projects. In addition, this Associate General Counsel position will:

  • Advise senior management and other internal stakeholders of the corporation and its subsidiaries on various legal and compliance issues by utilizing legal expertise to assess risk and to provide effective and appropriate recommendations regarding such risks.
  • Complete special projects and/or provide guidance on other corporate projects and initiatives as needed, including new business ventures and strategies.
  • Provide guidance to government divisions regarding contractual requirements and federal and state laws and regulations, including FAR and DFARS regulations.
  • Perform legal research and analysis on various legal issues affecting the corporation and its subsidiaries.

Your Team

  • You will report directly to the Vice President and General Counsel and work with a collaborative team of talented attorneys including Associate General Counsel and Staff Counsel. In total, the legal team is comprised of 12 members.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • 7 or more years as an attorney practicing in a law firm and/or corporate law department, including federal government contracting experience
  • Must be admitted, active, and in good standing with the State Bar of Wisconsin (or with another state bar and registered, or eligible to register, as in-house counsel with the State Bar of Wisconsin)
  • Flexibility to travel and attend occasional in-person meetings with other management and legal personnel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Government contracting experience with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Defense Health Agency (DHA) or Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Representation of contractors in proceedings before the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims

Salary Range

$131,040 to $243,360

The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills and experience.

This role is open to remote work in the following approved states:
Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin

This role will also be offered as hybrid or in-office in our Madison, Wi office.

Remote Worker Requirements

For remote position, employee is required to meet remote worker requirements, including a designated work station, a wired (Ethernet) connection to the network, and a minimum of 10Mbps downstream connection with at least 1Mbps upstream (can be checked at https://speedtest.net).
