How to Apply
- Provide support and operational oversight for Perfusion and the Cardiac Procedures Unit. Participate in the oversight and review of the Perioperative services for the CVC and Pavilion OR and PACU (in partnership with the ACNO for these areas) and IR (all areas) to assess and improve throughput, access, efficiency, timeliness, safety, and clinical processes, including supply chain, activity and finance, utilize Lean thinking process improvement tools and techniques, create accountability of services and staff for outcomes.
- Serve as liaison among the various disciplines and programs of Cardiovascular and Neuro Programs with other UMH departments to enhance program activity, and clinical and financial outcomes, facilitate problem solving as needed.
- Contribute to the development and execution of short- and long-term clinical strategies, priorities, goals and objectives, program planning and design with triad partners. This includes regular assessment of clinical activities, national trends, market data and financial forecasts.
- Serve as a hospital Incident-Commander-on-Call (ICOC) as part of the Emergency Management Operations. Understand what is required to respond, the UMH?s Emergency Management Operations systems and how to seek assistance as necessary. This includes attending monthly AOC/ICOC meetings.
- Develop and make presentations to institutional leadership and governance committees as needed relative to the Cardiovascular and Neuroscience programs and services.
- Commitment to creating the ideal staff experience and a positive organizational culture through employee engagement and with specific commitment and action plans to enhance Diversity/Equity and Inclusion (DEI).
- Demonstrate a leadership style of collaboration, teamwork, and coaching with a service focus.
- Coordinate strategic CVN initiatives related to growth of programs with emphasis on strategic growth areas within CVC and Pavilion.
- Responsible for the analysis, assessment, and approval (as necessary) of human resources, facilitate capital, space, technology, and supply/material resources to maintain clinical operations in a manner that creates safe, efficient, effective programs and create the ideal experience for patients, families, faculty, and staff with responsibility for managing financial implications as well.
- Demonstrate commitment to patient and family centered care through ongoing involvement of patients and family members as partners in key committees, e-advisors, and inclusion in program planning, design and process improvement to create the Ideal Patient and Family Centered Care Experience (PFCC).
- Develop operating and financial plans with associate partners, the executive team, clinical departments and Finance, including tracking progress on commitments. Review and analyze activity, capital, and operating budget submissions, provide monthly variance reports of the respective CVN programs. This includes assuring financial management that optimizes revenue, manages expenses and provides unit of service metrics that optimize productivity and utilization of resources.
- Accountable for quality and safety process improvements within the respective programs identified above and those that impact the institutional priorities. Work with associate chief clinical and associate chief nursing leaders and MPLAN leaders to create and sustain visual metrics to track progress on key performance indicators, assure processes are in place to monitor, and interventions are underway to improve.
- Coach and mentor emerging leaders and students for succession in the organization and entry into healthcare administration and personal career development for ongoing learning and understanding of the healthcare field.
- Participate in (or lead as directed) the new Pavilion activation, including workforce planning and operations, in partnership with the project team and Adult Hospitals executive leadership, working closely with clinical and hospital departments.
- Collaborate with clinical program and administrative leaders to develop innovative and value-added programs, services, systems, and policies.
- Ensure the respective programs and services are in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements including continual readiness for Joint Commission, CMS, FDA, CDC, Compliance and OIG. Ensure follow-up action plans are in place if concerns arise and implement timely process improvements.
- Represent the Chief Operating Officer, Adult Hospitals, and UMH in external forums to advocate for organizational goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated knowledge and use of process improvement, as well as in change leadership and management techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills in setting and balancing multiple priorities with demonstrated outcomes.
- Reasonable knowledge of the academic enterprise including academic initiatives, research activities, space, and funding.
- Proven track record of improvement and execution of institutional goals with demonstrated knowledge of operations management principles, practices and methods.
- Master's degree in business administration, Health Services Administration, Public Health, or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating and executing clinical operational work plans, process improvement, new program development, and/or clinical program proposals.
- Demonstrated examples of team leadership, collaboration and partnership in working within and across organizational lines, fostering multidisciplinary program development.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to enhancing workplace culture, embracing and fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and a commitment to creating the ideal work environment for faculty and staff.
- Experience and knowledge of financial management principles in the preparation of budgets (activity, capital and operating), ongoing management of expenses and revenues, and capital project management.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on customer service, especially working with faculty, staff, patients and families.
- Progressively responsible business and administrative experience in healthcare, management of personnel, administration, including healthcare operations in a large tertiary setting. Demonstrated administrative and clinical management experience of five years or greater.
